That technique seems like it would be likely to knock the take down pin out to me, since you're index finger is resting right on it. Not to mention the weaker hold of two fingers on the grip doing very little to keep you from "limp wristing" the gun famous for recoil induced malfunctions.
Well to be honest I really don't agree with the techninique at all, and the 1911 has been more than reliable a lot longer than the technique has been around
